When you first start planning your wedding, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the possibilities, like the stunning venues, the dream dress, the trending florals, and the millions of Pinterest boards. But before you dive too deep, take a moment to pause and ask yourselves: What actually matters most to us?

Because the truth is, your wedding budget isn’t just about numbers. It’s about intention in what you’re choosing to spend your money on where it adds meaning, then letting go of the rest.

Ask What Feels Most Like You

Every couple’s version of “perfect” looks different. For some, it’s an outdoor venue surrounded by the beauty of rural Northern California, or a glamorous downtown ballroom. For others, it’s incredible photography that captures the day so perfectly, it preserves the memory of that day for decades to come. And for others, it’s a full weekend experience, a chance to slow down and celebrate love with their closest friends and family.

Whatever your priorities are, let them reflect your story. The goal isn’t to create a wedding that impresses everyone, it’s to create one that feels true to you both and the life that you have built together.

Build Your Budget Around Those Priorities

Once you know your top three must-haves, focus your energy and budget there. If photos and video are your treasure, invest in a photographer whose work makes your heart skip a beat. If ambiance is what you dream of, put love into your decor, lighting, and tablescapes. If your guests’ experience is your top priority, make sure they’re entertained, comfortable, and well-fed!

When your budget supports what matters most, every dollar is worth it and every choice feels right.

Simplify the Rest

Not every detail needs to be over the top. Once you’ve identified your priorities, it becomes easier to simplify other areas. Easy ways to stay within budget: rent decor instead of buying, reuse florals between the ceremony and reception, focus on a few intentional touches instead of trying to do everything on your Pinterest board..

At Evergreen Gatherings, we love helping couples find ways to make their day beautiful and mindful from reusing decor elements to keeping things eco-friendly and local!
